The Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) in Histology/Immuno is responsible for the processing, embedding, microtomy, and H&E staining surgical specimens in accordance with established standards. The role also contributes to assay development, quality initiatives, and team support to ensure high-quality patient care and compliance with Accreditation Canada Diagnostics (ACD) requirements.

What you'll be doing:

• Perform processing, Embedding, and Microtomy in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Perform special staining and Immuno-histochemistry on sectioned slides.
• Perform equipment and inventory maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to histology and Immuno-histochemistry.
• Participate in validation of new procedures.
• Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of laboratory policies, procedures, and processes.
• Provide training and support to team members, including physicians, staff, and students.
• Perform quality control activities, contribute to quality assurance processes, and maintain documentation in compliance with ACD standards.
• Collaborate with the Team Lead to perform gap analyses, implement process improvements aligned with ACD requirements, and support accreditation activities, including working with assessors as required.
• Promote a positive and collaborative work environment that fosters teamwork, engagement, and high morale.

What you bring:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

• Graduate from a recognized Medical Laboratory Technology program and CSMLS certification as a General MLT
• Member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Experience in a hospital histology laboratory is required
• Experience in IHC is an asset
• Experience in accreditation process is an asset
